What is Quizizz?

Quizizz is an “interactive platform for students” that allows you to create, edit and share fun and interactive quizzes and lessons. As with Quizalize, Kahoot, Quizlet, and Blooket, Quizizz allows you to create your own classes, add students, and share game-based quizzes with them.

You can either set the tests as homework in which case the students take their time to work on them at their own pace or you can host tests directly in the class. As students take exams, you get access to “detailed class-wide and student-level insights for each class.”

How do you use Quizizz in class?

There are many ways to use Quizizz in your classroom. Here are some suggestions:

  • Use it as a form of formative assessment. Create quizzes and games that test students’ knowledge of educational materials. Use the reports feature to analyze each student’s performance and to plan an individual intervention. The statistics provided by the reports can also help you identify areas where learning problems occur and design remedial work accordingly.
  • Invite other teachers to collaborate with you on creating joint tests and assignments.

How do you create a Quizizz Quiz?

There are two ways to create quizzes on Quizizz: You can either start a quiz from scratch or use a pre-made quiz from Quizizz’s library. Here’s how to create a test from scratch:

  • Log in to your Quizizz account
  • Click Create from the left sidebar and select New Test
  • Type a name for your test, select the relevant topics and click Next
  • Use the Quiz Editor to write your questions. Supported formats include: multiple choice, fill in the blank, open ends, draw, slide, and poll.
  • Select the question format of your choice and type your questions.
  • Use the Equation Editor to add mathematical equations. You can also add pictures to questions
  • Click the audio icon if you want to create a voice for the questions
  • Set the time allotted for each question or for the entire test
  • Click Topics and type in a topic for your test. This will allow you to have student performance reports organized by topic.
  • When finished, click Save. Your test is now saved to your library.

How to share quizzes on Quizizz?

To share or edit quizzes you’ve created, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Quizizz account
  • Click My Library from the left pane
  • Select the test you want to share and click Share
  • Enter email addresses
  • Click the Can view and Can edit options next to the email address dialog. These options apply to all email addresses listed in the dialog.
  • Enable public access link if needed
  • Click Share.

How do you find quizzes and lessons in Quizizz’s library?

Quizizz’s library hosts thousands of ready-made quizzes and lessons created by teachers and other educators. These resources are arranged into different categories including: icebreakers and bells, mathematics, English language arts and language, social studies, world languages, science, computer science skills, and many more. You can also use the site’s search box to search for quizzes and lessons. Here’s how to do it:

  • Log in to your Quizizz account
  • Click Explore in the left pane
  • Browse through featured categories or type your query in the search box
  • Filter your search by degree (from elementary to undergraduate), subjects, languages, number of questions, etc.
  • Move your mouse pointer over the search results to view the content of the exams and lessons
  • When you find the test or lesson you’re interested in, click Play to start a live test, set it as homework, or preview it.

How do you host a live quiz on Quizizz?

The quizzes you can host live are those you’ve created yourself from scratch or those that are publicly available in Quizizz’s library. This is the process:

1- Go to My Library or use Explore to find a ready-made quiz. Click on the quiz you want to host live

2- Select Start live test and choose a mode:

Classic Mode: “Students advance at their own pace and you will see the leaderboard and live scores.” There are three modes in Classic:

A- Classic: Students answer at their own pace and compete individually.

b- Team: Students answer at their own pace, but the results are grouped by team.

A- Test: This is the standard test mode and requires a login.

Coach Mode: “Control the pace so everyone advances each question together.”

3- Click Continue and copy the generated join code to share with students

4- Students go to Joinmyquiz.com and enter the code and their name to join the game. Teachers can also share the code directly with Google Classroom, Schoology, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, Twitter, or via email.

How to set a quiz on Quizizz?

Unlike direct exams, set exams allow students to work on their assignments at their own pace. The quizzes you can assign are ones you’ve created from scratch or those that are publicly available in Quizizz’s library. When you find the test you want to assign to students, click Assign Homework, then set a deadline if you want to. Edit the settings as per your preference and click Set.

How to Create a Class on Quizizz

Creating classes on Quizizz allows you to easily share games and quizzes with your students. You can either create a class from scratch or import existing classes from Google Classroom, Schoology, or Canvas. To create a class from scratch, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your Quizizz account
  • Click Classes from the left pane and select Create Class.
  • Type a name for your class
  • Click Create Class
  • Get the generated link or code and share it with students
  • Students visit quizizz.com/join/class, log in and enter the class code.

How to create memes in Quizizz

Using memes to provide feedback to students is a great way to add an extra layer of interactivity and participation in your quizzes and lessons. The process of creating a meme on Quizizz is simple and easy:

  • Log in to your Quizizz account
  • Click More in the left pane and select Memes
  • Click Create new meme
  • Type a name for your memes collection and tap Done
  • Click Create the right meme and upload an image
  • Add a comment to your photo, type a name, and click save.
  • Repeat the same process to create the incorrect meme.

How to create a group on Quizizz

You can use groups to save and organize tests and lessons. To create a group:

  • Log in to your Quizizz account
  • Click More in the left pane and select Groups
  • Click Create group
  • Type a name for your group and choose whether to make it public or private
  • Click Create group

Is Quizizz Free?

While the Quizizz Basic and Super Plans support live tests and homework, they differ in the ability of the student for each lesson/assignment. Basic only allows 100 students per lesson/assignment. The Super plan allows up to 500 students per lesson/assignment and provides much more features.
